The Women Leadership Awards nominations are now open, and if you’ve been nominated, or if you are considering applying yourself, you may face the question – should I really nominate myself?
The nominations allow individuals to either nominate themselves or a well-deserving candidate in their network.
We are commonly asked by potential candidates, “should I really be nominating myself?”
It is fully appropriate, and actually encouraged to nominate yourself for the WLA.
If you have received an email notifying you that you have been nominated, you can choose to supplement the nomination by nominating yourself, which is recommended. Why? This way the jury receives more relevant information, as often you alone know the full details of your achievements.
For others, why wait? You do certainly not need to be nominated by someone else in order to apply for the award. In fact, you alone know your accomplishments better than anyone and are the most capable person to tell your own story.
From the WLA Jury’s perspective, it makes no difference whether a candidate has applied for the awards themselves, or been nominated by someone else. The information will also not be made public.
We encourage all women to reflect on the great accomplishments you have made, and submit an application. Click here for helpful tips on how to tell your story through your application.
As the longest running international award in China for women leaders, the WLA recognizes professional women who have emerged as leaders in their field, made a difference in our community and forged paths for others to follow.
