The World Academy for the Future of Women (WAFW) is a bold and daring leadership program that is dedicated to the advancement and acceleration of women’s leadership worldwide. The program operates and trains hundreds of college students in Henan Province (China), Dhaka (Bangladesh), and Kathmandu (Nepal).

IPWS supports WAFW throughout the year and has one paid intern position in 2021-2022 that is filled by a WAFW Graduate.

   

WHAT IS THE WAFW PROGRAM CURRICULUM?

The WAFW program curriculum consists of eight, month-long modules about leadership, career goals, social responsibility, and personal growth.

The program is delivered by members of the WAFW Facilitator Body. WAFW Facilitators conduct the seminars, labs, coaching, forums and the management and expansion of Academy projects.

 

WHAT IS THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF WAFW FACILITATORS?

A WAFW facilitator delivers one of the eight modules that are part of the WAFW program, and each module is 4-weeks in length. Facilitators deliver the modules through a combination of seminars, project research and design labs, open forums, and coaching sessions.

Facilitators undergo a 2-day training program before delivering the WAFW modules.

 

WAFW FACILITATORS ARE WOMEN AND MEN WHO:

✨ Are willing to go beyond their personal and geographic boundaries as they strategize with Academy members on projects bigger than either had imagined or taken on.

✨ Seize the opportunity to contribute through their engagement, and build relationships around issues of intimacy, action and intervention.

✨ Are extraordinary women and men who see themselves as global citizens being a stand for the future of women worldwide.

✨ Are eager to make a difference in other people’s lives and want to add more meaning to their own lives.


CALL FOR FACILITATORS The World Academy is now looking for professionals from all industries to be facilitators for the WAFW Program. What’s in it for you? Facilitating a WAFW program module is an opportunity to help young men and women discover their voice and leadership style and to accelerate their growth. As a facilitator, you will: 🗣Prepare university students in China, Bangladesh, and Nepal to discover their purpose, passion, and path to success as global citizens. 🗣Share your expertise and experience with university women and men who are committed to new possibilities in their lives, and in the lives of others. 🗣Engage in an action leadership platform based on gender equality, social justice, and human dignity. Other ways of getting involved with WAFW

Besides facilitators, WAFW also looks for mentors to help young leaders realize their potential. Mentoring is usually done through two, 30-minute online sessions on a weekly basis and does not involve teaching the WAFW curriculum.

My first exposure to the World Academy and it’s members was during a women’s conference held in Beijing, China October 2020. I was both impressed and inspired by the alumni speakers who presented themselves and the Academy so professionally. By the time they finished their presentation, I found myself intrigued as well. So, after a follow-up meeting with one of the alumni speakers and participation in the 2021 Symposium, I decided to follow the call to be a facilitator.

The five weeks I spent as a facilitator at SIAS were some of the most transformational of my life, and I was able to see first hand just how transformational the World Academy is for the members. The students’ passion to learn, desire to grow, and discipline to achieve the former two were evidenced each day. By teaching about one’s values, mission, and purpose, I was challenged to reexamine and solidify my own values, mission, and purpose. It was an unexpected benefit of the experience, but one that I know all facilitators will appreciate, as will the companies and/or communities that support them during their time away.

I returned to work and family more inspired to grow and passionate to give.

Dreamy was a first-year nursing student when we got to know each other, and we started our weekly online mentor session 15 months ago. We discuss various topics, including learning, parents, relationship, job, life, the world, compassion, humanity and the future. I noticed significant changes in Dreamy, improved self-confident and self-driven. She has clear goals and takes action to achieve these goals; most importantly, Dreamy makes her decision based on collective advice from different perspectives.

Echo joined my mentor class 7 months ago, and we met during the onsite module 3 program at SIAS University. I am impressed by her strong self-awareness, openness and strong willingness to make the change and help others. The academy provides the students with a sense of belonging and supports young women and men to be dedicated themselves to making a better world.
