EVENT RECAP + PHOTOS: October Thought Activator

We kicked off our Thought Activator event series last week at Kartel, coming together over the topic of female leadership — asking ourselves, do women need to act like men to be leaders?

IPWS Thought Activator, the incredible Monica Menghini kicked off the discussion by sharing her experience as a leader, a woman and a mother.

Monica left us with some impactful insights as we then turned within our small groups to discuss our own experiences, doubts and dilemmas we’ve faced.

Each one of us has had our own unique upbringing, our own challenges and opportunities that have shaped how we as leaders in whatever capacity that may be. Coming together in a small space and reflecting on the experiences of others, while sharing our own made for some memorable conversations among attendees.

While there is no one answer as to how we should or should not present ourselves, Monica offered a important lesson that each group seemed to reverberate — it’s shouldn’t matter if you are a woman or a man, a great leader acts like a decent human being.

We received fantastic feedback from this event and are so happy so many of you could join. We are looking forward to our next two Thought Activators of 2018, please mark your calendars and watch this space for tickets — seats are limited and sell out quickly.

Nov. 14 – The Future of Work

Dec. 12 – The Trouble with Time Management

Please also mark the date of November 29th for our main event of the quarter, The Impact of AI on diversity. Our speakers will debate this topic from opposing viewpoints; that which sees AI as a positive impact, reducing exclusionary practices, and that which sees AI as an accelerator of inequality.

Stay tuned for more information and tickets!

**IPWS Thought Activator is a monthly series that connects people through meaningful conversations. The aim is to help you expand your network and more effectively make valuable connections by taking part in an informal, guided activity. Each event is centered around a specific theme, which attendees will reflect over in smaller groups, making it easy to get to know one another while gaining insight and perspective.**
