Last Thursday, IPWS hosted a unique event highlighting women in a typically male-dominated industry – sports. We invited women from different backgrounds, all in leadership positions within the sports industry to share their insights on working in the sports industry as a woman, how the sports industry is evolving in China, and what skills are most valuable for these types of positions.
Moderator Logan Clements, who is no stranger to the sports industry herself, having founded her own company helping teams with event project management, and working recently with Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics, asked the panelists a range of questions from how the sports industry in China is growing, to what type of experience and skills are needed for a job in sports management, to how being a women has influenced their career in a male-dominated industry.
Stephanie Hsiao, Marketing Director of NFL China spoke about why China is such a unique and exciting market to be involved in sports. Christiane Maßmann, Manager E-Commerce & Merchandising for FC Bayern Munich gave her advice for women working in male-dominated industries. And YuJun, Account Director for the leading sports agency in China, Mailman Group, shared her journey, studying Sports Media and Communications in Germany, working for the Olympics and now with FIFA at Mailman.
IPWS aims to start conversations, and connect professional women across all different industries. This event was certainly a conversation starter and we are honored to have hosted such a wonderful panel of women who are breaking down barriers and making a difference in our community. A big thank you to our speakers and to everyone who attended!
