Arete is offering a complimentary White Party ticket (valued at RMB 350) and charitable proceeds towards the World Academy for the Future of Women with purchases made before the White Party Event on June 9th. There is no minimum spend, and the offer applies to all Arete pieces, white or not. Additionally, one Arete dress will be auctioned at the White Party Brunch.

We also asked Arete’s co-founder and CEO, Jasmine Ting, a few questions about their story and what Arete is all about: 

What’s your brand about?
I am the co-founder and CEO of Arete, a designer womenswear fashion label launched in Shanghai. Arete is borne of an appreciation for the busy lifestyles and multidimensional fashion needs of women, thus focusing on designing products that empower our wearer. Our style is fresh and unique, with Asian-infused design references combined with contemporary silhouettes to deliver international modernity.

Why do you want to be an entrepreneur?
Being an entrepreneur is synonymous to being a creator. You have a vision to create something valuable to the world, and this can be defined as introducing a product that provides style and confidence to your customer (which is what Arete hopes to do), to creating jobs for your team, creating a societal and cultural change… I think that if we have an idea or an ability we want to share, we can all be an entrepreneur in some way. Entrepreneurship is an attitude of owning that change that you believe in.

What do you think is unique about being a female entrepreneur in Shanghai?
I feel blessed that Arete and the entrepreneur network in Shanghai can empower women. It’s because of strong and vibrant women communities such as IPWS, and far-thinking social impact organizations such as World Academy of Women that females increasingly have the tools to determine our own future as we wish. Having these resources easily within reach is unique, so we should not take it for granted. Although entrepreneurship on the surface may feel like a solo gig, but actually entrepreneurs cannot go anywhere without the people around us. As women, we should be positive forces to enable other women.
