“I don’t get my inspiration from books or a painting. I get it from the women I meet.” – Carolina Herrera
It’s been a minute since I last put my thoughts into words! Like so many of you, the last year has been all about transitions—so many transitions. And a lot of mine wouldn’t have been possible without the support of everyone in this community!
In a few weeks, we’ll be launching a new season that I KNOW will be one of the best yet! But I’ll save that for the next post.
Today, I just want to focus on the WLA!
You’ve seen the posts, watched the videos, but have you nominated anyone yet? Have you nominated yourself? What’s stopping you?
I know this community and how many incredible women and allies are out there. I also know that if you think someone else might nominate the person who inspires you, they’re probably thinking the same. And then no one nominates that person.
When I was nominated in 2019, I wasn’t in a good place. I was lost, lacked confidence, and didn’t think I was making an impact. You know how we get in our heads when something doesn’t turn out the way we want or expect? We overthink it … repeatedly. And when we focus on that one person who doesn’t see our value, we often forget about all the people who do. Yeah, that’s where I was.
But being nominated, and then winning, made me turn around and face the mirror. We all need that moment occasionally. It’s the smallest pushes that can have the biggest impacts. We owe it to those who came before us—those whose shoulders we stand upon—to keep moving forward.
“When the world tells you to shrink, EXPAND!” – Elaine Welteroth
This isn’t just about nominating someone else. We want to showcase YOUR shine, who YOU are! It’s just as important to put ourselves out there—not for critique, but to show how it can be done. We all have different journeys, and it’s up to us to share our stories and light the way ahead! Your story deserves to be shared!
