On Thursday, October 21st, at the beautiful setting of Funkadeli, the IPWS Annual General Assembly was held to mark the beginning of a new season for IPWS. Members and supporters celebrated the accomplishments of the past year and welcomed the new Board members.

We also had the pleasure of hosting a Thought Activator, on the topic “Personal Transformation and Finding Your HAVE Story” with Ju Majid, CFO at Shanghai Disney Resort and our Activator of the Month.
Throughout Ju’s journey to where she stands today, she has committed to undergoing pivotal personal growth and transformation, at times under very uncomfortable circumstances. Despite the discomfort, personal transformation is central to everything we do because, as Ju says, “Success is more about who you are as a person than it is about functional skills.”
Ju was generous enough to share some of the most defining moments in her life and the following important personal lessons that they imparted:
Humility. You can learn from every single person around you, even if they are younger and at a lower professional seniority level than you. Everyone has unique perspectives, skills, and pearls of wisdom that you and others may not have. As an example, Ju shared that she has not only consistently learnt from her children throughout their lives, but is also sometimes explicitly challenged by them to transform into a better version of herself.
Altitude. Don’t limit your expectations of yourself. Decide what are you going to be and, equally importantly, what you are not going to be — life is about choices. Then, have the courage, persistence, fortitude, and patience to transform yourself and your circumstances to pursue your goals.
Vulnerability. Reveal your whole self, your strengths and your vulnerabilities, to those who are invested in your future. It’s not until you reveal your whole self to others that they can understand you and, therefore, help you to achieve your goals and potential.
Empathy. Every individual will have varying perceptions of any given situation. Reach out and listen to others with the aim of understanding their perceptions and their perspectives and the reasons behind them.
Equally importantly, have empathy with yourself. Get to know yourself better, and develop a better relationship with yourself.
