Today, IPWS is proud to introduce Clara Elizabeth Davis as a speaker at the 2019 IPWS Summit on May 31st in Shanghai.
Through Unravel Clara has inspired over 100 people to courageously share personal stories in front of large audiences all over Shanghai. We asked Clara, in her opinion, what can be so difficult about acting with courage;
Courage often requires you to rock the boat, stare doubt in the face, feel uncomfortable, encounter resistance. It’s a choice and it’s often the harder one.
Clara Elizabeth Davis
Founder and Executive Producer, Unravel
Clara is the founder and Executive Producer of Unravel, a Shanghai-born storytelling platform that produces monthly, curated live shows in addition to running workshops and special projects with partnering companies, schools, and organizations to harness the power of storytelling.
She is the co-founder of food and beverage marketing + creative agency Taste Collective, which develops experiential campaigns, concepts, content and productions to help brands connect more meaningfully with their consumers.
In 2015 she founded and operated District Beer Bar & Kitchen, backed by Belgian brewery group Duvel Moortgat. Clara graduated from a dual degree master’s program between the London School of Economics and Fudan University in Global Media & Communications. From the East Coast of the USA, she has spent the last 7 years in China exploring and fostering the connections between food, community, and storytelling.
If you haven’t had the chance to run into Clara at an Unravel show or workshop, we figured the best way to introduce her would be to ask her how her mother would describe her;
Generously, no doubt! I believe she would say I have the courage and conviction to forge my own path, even when she’s watched and supported me as I have doubted the path (and the courage!). I think she would say I’ve had a spark for stories since I told her I would grow up to be the editor of the New York Times when I was 6. I would say: I get it all from her.
